Get Sift working.

Sift installs a privileged helper and a content-filter system extension. Most setup problems are one-time macOS approvals.

The content filter is waiting for approval

Open System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions → Network Extensions, enable Sift, then return to the app. Sift keeps checking and will continue automatically.

The block screen does not appear

Blocking still happens below the browser. To show Sift’s branded page, allow Sift under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation for each browser you use. Firefox remains blocked but cannot show the branded page.

Browser support

Core blocking runs below the browser and applies to every browser on the Mac. Safari and Google Chrome are verified for both blocking and Sift’s branded page. Arc, Brave, Edge, Opera, Vivaldi, Chrome Beta and Canary, and Chromium are built into the branded-page integration but still need broader launch testing. Firefox and other browsers are blocked at the network layer and may show their own connection-error page instead.

A session ended but a site still looks blocked

Reload the tab once. If it persists, quit and reopen the browser. Sift removes its hosts and network rules automatically when the timer expires.

Updates and removal

Choose Sift → Check for Updates… for the newest signed release. To remove every installed component, use Sift → Uninstall Sift… after the current session ends.
